Preserving Quilt Art for the Next 35 Years

Since 1991, the National Quilt Museum has preserved the world’s finest collection of quilt art by today’s quilters, welcoming nearly one million visitors from around the globe while caring for hundreds of irreplaceable works created by the world’s most celebrated quilt artists.

Now, as we celebrate our 35th anniversary, we invite you to become part of the next chapter.

The Preservation Society is a community of supporters dedicated to protecting both the museum’s internationally recognized collection and the building and systems that safeguard it. Together, we ensure that future generations can continue to experience the beauty, innovation, and artistry of quilting in a carefully maintained environment designed specifically for textile preservation.

Because preserving quilts begins long before they are displayed.
It begins with stable temperatures. Proper humidity. Optimal lighting. A secure building envelope. And a community of people committed to protecting these extraordinary works of art.

Your gift to the Preservation Society helps provide that protection.

“It makes me so happy that even after I am gone from the earth others will still be able to study and enjoy my quilts that are preserved at the National Quilt Museum.”
Karen Kay Buckley

“I was present at the groundbreaking ceremony for the National Quilt Museum and have been a supporter ever since. The museum is a national treasure. It is a wonderful, almost magical place to visit. The displays are beautiful, inspiring, and educational. The workmanship, design, and variety of the quilts are astounding. I’m honored to become an inaugural member of the National Quilt Museum Preservation Society so that this state-of-the-art museum can continue to showcase and preserve the unique art form of contemporary quilts.”
