Distortion from the European Patchwork Meeting

We are the only Museum in the US getting this exhibit. It will feature the outstanding work of over 40 artists from the European Patchwork Meeting International Competition.

Fabulous Feathers and Fillers: Design and Machine Quilting Techniques with Sue Nickles
July 8 - 10
Begin the workshop learning to design your own whole cloth style feathers with easy exercises. Create your own original feather design for the small whole cloth project. Sue will then teach you techniques of free motion quilting to achieve beautiful, consistent and smooth stitched feather designs. Echo quilting, fillers and more will be included in this extensive workshop. fall in love with feathers!

Sew Your Own Drawstring Bag
July 15
Learn to use a sewing machine and make a drawstring bag to keep. All materials provided, no sewing experience necessary, registration required (max 12 participants). This event is opent to youth ages 8 - 15 with a fee of $10/child. This event goes from 10:30am until 12pm.

Fabric Art Card
July 24
Create an art card of your own design while learning some quilt techniques. All materials provided, registration required (max 12 participants). This free event is open to youths ages 8 - 15, lasts approximately 1 hour and starts at 11am.

Fabulous Fusible Flowers with Melinda Bula
August 7 - 9
Learn the basics for building a Fusible Flower quilt. Students will have a choice from three patterns for their projects: Clematis, Hibiscus and Poppy. You will learn the steps of developing a flower art quilt, including: realism, technique and design. The students will get 80% of their flower done in class. Renegade Thread Play is covered and demonstrated in class. All skill levels can master these flowers and make their own!

Fiesta Mexico: Block Six - Hand Applique with Karen Kay Buckley
September 18 - 20
Inspired by her pattern: "Fiesta Mexico", students will learn a variety of applique styles including: needle turn, perfect circles, perfect ovals, smooth curves, sharp points and revers applique. Students will also learn the "Templar and Sizing" technique.

Flying Colors with Gail Garber
October 23 - 25
Understanding the process of creating your own original designed quilt, complete with free-form geese creating motion and adding light. It's simple and easy with a ruler and compass, even for those who dislike math. This class is designed for the student who desires and in-depth experience: exploring all aspects of creative innovative geometric quilts. Students will learn design, color selection, use of contrast and scale, and stitching techniques that include freezer paper foundation piecing.
