The Natural Way to Quilt

“Joe the Quilter” Cunningham
Wednesday, March 10 - Sunday, March 14, 2010
Supply List

In this 5-day class Joe will teach an entire hand quilting course, from how to make a frame for basting to the hand quilting stitch, from how to design feathers and cables to how to quilt them freehand. Joe will also teach how to hand quilt while avoiding injury, what needles, thread and batting to use, how to quilt without knots, how to quilt in all directions.

The class will have a large piece in a frame upon which all can practice their skills. Also, each person will have a whole cloth crib quilt which should be mostly complete by the end of the week. Designed for beginners to intermediate hand quilters, this class will give any quilter the skills they need to become a master quilter. The entire workshop will be illustrated with Joe's quilts, demonstrating how to put the concepts into practice.

Suzanne Marshall
Thursday, July 22 - Saturday, July 24, 2010
Supply List

Hand stitching a “wacky bird” is bound to make you laugh! What could be more fun than that? Choose from nine distinctly different wacky bird patterns to create your personal wacky bird.  Tips will be given for needle-turning and perfecting sharp points, inside curves, rounded corners, and smooth edges.  Use take-away appliqué for pattern placement (no markings on the background or transparent overlays), making the multi-pieced bird fit together with ease.  Embroidery will help define the bird from the background.  Experiment with different colors of floss and see how it changes the appliquéd bird.
